Here is my podcast from me starting As Media and creating my college magazine, the whole preparation and process.

This is the cover and contents mock up of my magazine.

i think that the font size is appropriate because it isnt too big however it is noticable and readable. The masthead is larger than the coverlines and the coverlines desrciptions are smaller than the cover lines therefore the order of what you notice when you look at the magazine is correct. The font I used is very good as it has the American college style and therefore makes the target audience appeal to the magazine more.

The magazine does follow the three colour rule and all the colours coincide with each other therefore the magazine has a good consistant feel. the colours are also bright and bold and therefore stand out more.

The masthead is the one chosen by my target audience it is good because it uses two fonts and also invovles the students themselves, it suggests the the magazine is about the students and their opinions entailing that they are important for the magazine.

the photograph is very  approiate as it shows a typical student, it has been photo shopped in order for any blemishes to be taken away. The background has been took out and therefore you can see the edges of the background and the also the top of the models head has been cut off, this is bad photography skills and therefore could be improved. 

The mastheads and coverlines are approiate as they are in connection iwth college students and also all the coverlines have good desriptions underneath in order for the target audience to get indepth information on the stories however it would be better if there were more coverlines.

I have found my two types of font for my magazine and installed my three colour theme into the cover and the masthead is compleated.

 My draft covers all of the codes and conventions of a magazine however a background colour and a better layout needs to be improved.

My contents draft is appropriate and follows the three colour rule, there needs to be a background put inand more stories added.

Research and Planning- semiotics

I used the the website Dafont to find fonts that would suit the genere of these mastheads, popworld was for a pop magazine and therefore I used a rounded font. Death metal was for a rock magazine therefore I used a bold and sketchy font. Lastly, I used a film strip for the magazine popcorn as it is a film magazine.

Research and Planning- video interviews

From these interviews I can take in these comments:

• My target audience like the the fact the magazine is about there views and opinions as it gives them involvement in college.
• They liked the story's as they can relate to them in some way and therefore they appeal to them.
• They said that there could be some more cover lines to fill the page more and interest people to the magazine and all the story's that it covers. 
• The colours are appropriate however a background colour would come to good use and give more effect.

Research and Planning- Medium close ups

These are medium close up shots for my planning  of my magazine cover.

Research and Planning- college magazine anylasis

This looks like a real college magazine as it has all the codes and conventions of a college magazine such as the the masthead which actually says 'college' showing the magazines target audience. also the bar code and pricing is shown on the magazine showing hat is actually being sold and isn't a fake. the cover lines are also an indication to the audience of the magazine as they talk about blackberry's and making money on campus referring to the college itself. The publication line is actually the magazines website showing where you can find all of the magazines information and showing they are in touch with teenagers as they all use the internet now. The main picture is of a young guy who is told to be a student of a college in a medium close up shot.

Research and Planning- indesign tutorial

I have made this review using in-design, first of all i copied and pasted a review from Empire on the film Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 1 . I also imported the picture onto my desktop, i made guidelines on indesign for my film review and arranged my text to able to fix the picture into the review. I then changed my background colour and added my title, to fit the theme of twilight.

Research and Planning- photoshop challenge

In the photoshop challenge i opened up an A4 document to start my piece on then i put on my text in the centere of the page with size 24 Century Gothic font and the colour red then i added a drop shadow to the text and changed my background to the color blue. I used a person from Google images and changed hair hair from blonde to pink and added a border around her.

In this Photoshop skin tutorial i learned the following tools and techniques:

• smart blur filter
• add layer mask
• spot remover tool 
• paint brush 
• opacity 

Research and Planning- film poster

i also made a film poster today using the actor Kirsten  stewart and changing her to be susan boyle. I did this by using two photos, i had the original poster and another photo of Susan, i cut around Susan's face and inserted it onto Kirsten.  

Research and Planning- Photoshop CD tutorial

I start my blog with a post from Photoshop, i started my tutorial today and i found the tools drop shadow, layering, filter and colour balancing. This was my first time on Photoshop and i found it very useful, i learned skills such as adjusting size/angle and layering in order to make a CD cover. I have now understood the basics of Photoshop and will be able to improve on my skills on the program in order to help me with my other tasks.
