Evaluation: Question 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

The layout of my cover is much better as I have more content and therefore there isn't big spaces as on my college magazine there was a lot of space and the text was very spread out and large. The masthead is also improved by a vast amount as on my college magazine it didn't stand out and it was plain, on my music magazine the masthead is presented in a box and it is very big and bold and takes up a good amount of space which means it stands out well.

The photo quality is improved a lot as this college magazine photo is cut out really badly as you can still see bits of the background in the photo and the models head had been cut off which means it was taken badly, this shows i've also improved on my camera skills throughout the process of my making my magazine.

The positioning of the photograph has improved as in my college magazine the text was layout around the photo and this made it look messy and unstructured whereas in my music magazine there is a lot more photos and the text overlaps it therefore showing that there is a flow within the page rather than the text and pictures just being placed.

The layout of my contents page has changed dramatically, in the college magazine the layout was very simple with no real structure. It was very basic, I moved on from that for my music magazine contents page as it has boxes that separate different type of stores and also has subheadings which make the contents page much easier to read.

The colour is improved as in my college magazine there was no colour which made the contents page very boring and dull, now a range of colours have been used which means that the page has been bought alive also the pictures have added good content to my music magazine as it shows more into the stories that are featured in it.

Lastly, the effects that have been used are good as there is a coloured background, drop shadow on boxes and symbols all used, these just add a little something different to the page and make it more like a music magazine. I have learnt to be able to add and use these since creating my college magazine.

Evaluation: Question 5 - How did you attract/address your audience?

Evaluation: Question 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product? Why?

I have drawn a person who i would consider to be my target audience, it would most likely be a girl as in the top of the pops magazine 87% of the people who purchase the magazine are girls. The age range would probably be 11-15 as that is the secondary school age when most girls are listening to pop music. I think she would buy my magazine as she wears very trendy clothes, that are light colours and fashionable and be into fashion and arts.

Evaluation: Question 3 - What kind of media instiution might distribute your product and why?

Evaluation: Question 2- How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Pixie Lott

Posture- both the girls have their arms at their side to show they are relaxed, this also indicates a calmed feeling. Also they are situated in the centre of the shot and on a dark background, which makes them stand out as an individual more.

Camera angle- the camera is at eye level, this will help to sell the magazine as the audience will connect to the artist as they are looking straight at them and therefore they will be drawn to the magazine.

Shot type- I used a medium close up, as this is an appropriate shot type for a magazine, it shows off your artist’s style and also their make up this is something that will right off grab the audience’s attention.

Lighting- in both the photos there is no lighting, this makes the picture stand out, the night background helps the artist to stand out as it means they are both wearing light colours which contrast with the black background.

Costume- the costumes are similar as they both have low cut tops showing off a little cleavage however not much so they are still reasonably covered up. They are both wearing a simple necklace, which draws their attention.

Expression- the artists both have wide smiles this shows their happiness and goes within the genre of my magazine, as pop is seen as a fun genre. Therefore the expression on the artists face must portray this too.

Makeup- both artists have simple make up on they only have the basic makeup, eye liner, mascara, lip gloss and blusher which shows off the artists complexion well.

Hair- the artist’s hair both are down and in a messy style this shows that they are from a genre where they can have fun and don’t have to be too serious.

In conclusion my whole magazine represents young men and women to be full of aspiration, strong and independent my photo shows that this young women is no afraid of getting herself into the music industry and she is ready to take on new challenges. Throughout my magazine they are represented as strong willed young people ready to take on the world.
