In my cover I challenged
the shot type that is used in the Top of the Pops magazine as I had a two shot
that was a medium long shot compared with the close up of the model on the
other magazine. However I used the same facial expression
and the body language is similar as the models in my magazine were very close
and smiling at the camera, this is making eye contact with the audience and is
also used in the Top of the Pops magazine. There is a lack of mise en scene in
both of the photographs however the amount of photographs used on the cover is the same amount and similarly layout. I positioned the photograph in a similar place to the other magazines photograph and therefore used the layout of that magazines cover.
The general layout is used dramatically, as the title is boxed, most boxes
are rounded and circles have been used as well as the posters being featured at
the bottom of the page and the rows of headlines just above them.
I developed
the fonts used in the magazine as the font is still rounded however it isn’t as
‘popish’ as the Top of the Pops magazine the font sizes have been challenged as my font size for my masthead was a
great amount bigger than the other magazine and the cover lines were a lot
smaller. The language type was developed as although words like ‘gossip’ and ‘fashion
fix’ were used it wasn’t as cheesy as in the other magazine.
I have challenged how busy the page should be by having less content and overlapping which is usually seen in my genre of magazine, this was because I wanted a more spaced out magazine rather than it being over crowded. I developed the posters by having less and they are different poses, however the fact they are in there is a use of the codes and conventions of that magazine.
I used the title of the
contents page as it fitted in with my genre, I also used the cover
inside the contents as it gives more depth into the magazine, the page numbers
have been
developed as they haven’t got arrows to indicate where the page
and stories connect. They are only at the side of the cover.
By putting the date and the issue number on the contents page am challenging the codes and conventions of the magazine as usually its only on the cover. The we <3 font="" heading="" is="" m.t.m="" nbsp="" style="color: #0070c0; font-size: 11pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-fareast; mso-font-kerning: 12.0pt;"> developed 3>as it is similar idea to the we <3 colour="" different.="" different="" font="" fonts="" heart="" however="" is="" of="" shopping="" style="color: yellow; font-size: 11pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-fareast; mso-font-kerning: 12.0pt;" the="" they="" use="">as the top of the pops magazine has a very rounded pop like however my font is more classy but still follows the genre pop. 3>

My magazine is challenged as it isn’t following the three colour rule and is using many colours to separate the sections. I have used the fashion section and added photographs of props to keep the pop genre of the magazine. I have developed the circled picture of the band featured in my magazine by adding a stroke effect to it and therefore it stands out more.
In my double page spread I used
the quote as a main heading this is because it’s the best feature to use as a
heading rather than an ordinary masthead. I developed
the positioning of the description of the story as I have put it
straight under my masthead and it is in a block box, I did this because I wanted
it to stand out and not blend into the background.
I challenged
the structure of the name as I have positioned them so there used as
subheadings rather than included in the story. I used
the page numbers in the corner of the page as I thought it was very smart and
looked better than just putting a simple number in the bottom corner of the page.
I have developed the photograph as the shot
type is still the same (medium long shot) and they have big smiles just the
same as Leona does however they are in a tighter frame as there is more of them
and the models take up the whole page. Lastly, I have challenged
the type of shape used to display the story, as I wanted to use something that
was more creative and different rather than just the plain simple box.
